GIVEAWAY! Win a free, signed copy of Quick & Easy Vegan Celebrations
Wowzers. Vegan Mofo went by so quickly this year! I didn't get in half or even a fourth of the blogging I planned to and now the Vegan Month of Food is almost over and I have yet to have one giveaway! Well that's all about to change. With a new baby on the way and my latest cookbook Quick & Easy Low-Cal Vegan Comfort Food off to the publisher I have a lot to celebrate and want to share
my joy with all of you so what better way to do that than to have a
giveaway of my sophomore book Quick and Easy Vegan Celebrations. This giveaway is running not only on the Vegan Guinea Pig blog but also on my new blog The Lady and Seitan and if you win and you happen to be a newsletter subscriber then you get a special bonus gift as well (more information to come in today's upcoming newsletter). The rules are simple. Just post, in the comments section, on either blog or both blogs your favorite celebration of the past, present or one you're planning for the future and I'll randomly select a winner from the bunch! If you post on both blogs you double your chances! Contest ends 10/31/11 the last day of Vegan Mofo and my last official day of blogging for the rest of the year (but rest assured I've stock-piled some great reviews and recipes that are scheduled to post throughout the rest of the year). Good Luck!

My favorite celebration was my wedding reception at Candle 79
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebration is getting the Christmas stuff out the day after thanksgiving...I love how magical it makes our house feel. Okay, it's not really a celebration, but one of my favorite days. :)
ReplyDeleteSome days it feels like October whizzed by and some days it seems to have lasted forever - I didn't realise you were MoFo'ing but better late than never hey....
ReplyDeleteMy favourite celebration was my 2 best friends' wedding. We went to Ireland where they were married in a beautiful ceremony followed by lots of boozing and eating as only the Irish know how to.
Best time ever.
<:-)
I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving this year! It'll be the first I've spent with my immediate family in 6 years. Plus...my parents got a new dog and I'm pretty excited to meet him.
ReplyDeleteRegular reader, very infrequent commenter! My favorite celebration this past year was for the 4th of July. Omni family enjoyed the beans, potato salad and seitan dogs I prepared.
ReplyDeleteHope to win the book, I really enjoy the Q&E Comfort Food!
One of my favorite celebrations was an impromptu reunion this past summer. My sister came into town...she lives quite a distance and hadn't been able to visit family for over 5 years. She came both to visit and to attend a class reunion. My father didn't know she was coming so we decided to surprise him and it went so well! He was truly joyously surprised and we spent a wonderful day catching up, watching dvd's of our little nephew, going through old photos and eating amazing food (my father is such a great cook!). It was such a fun jubilant day, but hopefully we won't have to wait another 5 years for the next one!. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI would love Vegan Celebrations! My fave celebration is always Canadian Thanksgiving. It always feels like we haven't had a celebration forever, and it's also a little cooler so it's an awesome excuse to eat tonnes of food!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to being Vegan and have yet to plan my first Vegan holiday meal which will happen this Christmas. I've only tried one cheese so far, and didn't like it at all. Your blog and Vegan Celebrations book will be a greatly appreciated help! (flax)
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to have a vegan Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeletei really love all the fall holidays, but thanksgiving, like most people is my favorite food centered celebration day. i'm looking forward to showcasing some nice vegan items to the fam this year, especially since my parents went back to veg after forks over knives!
ReplyDeleteHalloween is my favorite celebration! I love putting together my own costumes. Last year was Cleopatra, this year is Audrey Hepburn!
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving! I'd love to try some vegan versions of old favorites!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win, mine is Hanukkah.... Deep fried heaven!!! It is my time to shower the people I love with my culture!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHanukkah is my favorite, love to shower my friends with my fried goodies!!!
ReplyDeleteLast years thanksgiving was amazing. My hubby makes the best dinner and watching the parade with my daughters is the best!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebration of the past year was my wedding! When else do you get to celebrate with everyone you love all in one place!?
ReplyDeleteflax
My favorite celebration is my 23 wedding anniversary coming up on November 1st. We're going to cheer friend during the Marine Corp Marathon and then have lunch at out favorite vegan place, Everlasting Life Cafe in DC.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving for sure because it has my favorite Fs family & FOOD!
ReplyDeleteI'm planning an upcoming cast party for my husband's film he just shot, and I'm so excited because one of the cast members is bringing her adorable dog- I'm thinking I'll make some dog treats, too!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's wedding was my favorite celebration. We had over 500 guests at the reception and it was totally vegetarian. People were so impressed and some even refused to believe that the entrees were vegan and not "real" meat. Our caterer, who is not vegan, followed my instructions to the "T" and everything was wonderfully delicious and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, this is so exciting! my favourite celebration EVER was my dog's fourth birthday. we traveled to new york city and celebrated in fashionable style! here's the blog post from that day! http://nicoleandgwendolyn.com/2011/10/12/the-new-york-birthday-bash/. congratulations on your new book! i'm so excited for you! i will be posting this same comment on your other blog (which i didn't realise existed until reading this post!). you are the vegan queen! xxx
ReplyDeleteI like making vegetarian Thanksgiving menus for just us, as I can safely explore new territory. Vegan adventures would be the next horizon!
ReplyDeleteI love New Year's Day! Parades, Black-eye Peas and Cornbread!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes to you and your little girl! I look forward to reading about your new adventures next year!
Take Care!
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. Growing up, we would go to my great grandmother's house where family from across the country would come to celebrate. I have wonderful memories of those Thanksgivings and I still love it today.
ReplyDeleteFavorite celebration was graduating from culinary school and eating with my friends that night!
ReplyDeleteI always host a costume party on my birthday. And I try to make a themed cake as well. This year it's going to be a literary party, so maybe a cake that looks like a book?
ReplyDeleteThis book looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to my 25th birthday at the end of the year. Tons of food + birthday cake :)
ReplyDeleteVegan thanksgiving and birthday same day...vegan treats making the cake!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebration was probably one 4th of July many years ago. It was an amazing day, the weather was beautiful, for one, the food was good ol' home cooking (and awesome desserts to boot) and everyone just generally had a great time. It was a lot of different people hanging around each other but we all had a really memorable day together.
ReplyDeleteMy celebration will be the birth of our first grandchild! Wow, how time flew by since my daughter was a baby. I can't wait to smell that baby powder and baby shampoo again and to nibble on that little tush! Yumm!!!
ReplyDeleteWe had an 80th birthday/family reunion for my grandma and it was so much fun - I was able to see so many relatives that I haven't seen in over a decade!
ReplyDeleteThe last day of the year celebrating it with my family in Sevilla. Family having a good laugh, eating delicious food and watching some awful new years program.
ReplyDeleteI love Thanksgiving, now that I am a vegan. I never really cared for turkey... :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite celebration was when my family went out to eat at Gracias Madre in San Francisco to celebrate my graduation. Thanks for having such a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThe best celebration ever was probably when I was a kid and my next-door neighbour Tweedle had a sleepover-party for her birthday one year and I stayed up all night watching HBO while everyone else slept. We didn't have HBO and I was amazed (a) that the comediens said the f-word and (b) by Tales From The Crypt -- I'd never seen a horror show or movie before! ;D
ReplyDeleteFor my 30th birthday, we had a small party in our new backyard, with very good friends, and very good vegan eats!
ReplyDeleteI have a celebration coming up - my 30th birthday party is this Saturday (a garden party), and celebrations will continue until my actual birthday on the Monday (fancypants dinner with the family).
ReplyDeleteI have a tendency to make a celebration out of anything - finishing a journal article, picking my dissertation committee, running a 5K, my dogs' birthdays, etc. However, my favorite food-related celebration was probably my wedding. We had a very small get-together and it was catered by Nicola's mediterranean restaurant in Atlanta and we had 8 different vegan cakes from Southern Sweets. EVERYONE loved it, omnivores and herbivores alike!
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is always my favorite meal-centric celebration. It's a great time to gather friends and family and just be grateful for all we have and share. It's also a wonderful time to show how tasty vegan food is!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is usually my favorite celebration because my partner does something low-key and sweet for me. I was born a few hours before Christmas Day, so it's always been a struggle to find special "me" time during the holidays. So pleased to be with someone who helps me celebrate without stress!
ReplyDeleteChristmas is always my favorite celebration... thanks so much for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteNot too sure if the contest is still open but Christmas is my favorite celebration season. The time with family and friends is so lovely and makes me to happy. Also, congrats on your baby!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to this christmas, this is my babys first christmas and I always love the smell of the holidays and spending time with family.
ReplyDeleteI just made the Hazelnut Crusted Seitan along with the Sage Gravy.....and can I say...OH. MY. GAWD!!!! DELICIOUS and then some!! You are my new Kitchen Queen! Your Majesty............
